There is probably little doubt in the mind of most Christians, that in taking communion we remember what Jesus did for us on the cross, … that He took our sickness and disease, and that He bore our sins. For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. --- 1 Cor 11:23-25 And praise God for what Jesus did and took on our behalf! Yet, in looking at ourselves when taking communion, … it does not seem so straight forward at all! Paul continues by saying the following … But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. --- 1 Cor 11:27-31 An awesome instruction and responsibility, … that does tend to put a pressure on us, telling us that unless we examine or judge ourselves, … we would condemn ourselves! Is that really what Jesus meant? How exactly are we to examine ourselves? Read ... Communion ... here! |

Felicité Lundambo was so inspired by the Covenant Disciples Bible Course, that she not only completed it, but studied it a second time with the express purpose to be able to bless others through studying the course, just as she also was. Not only is Felicité Pastor Aime's Church Administrator, but has also started a Covenant Disciples Bible training class of her own. So also, Philotée Niyungeko (picture left) is leading a Covenant Disciples Bible training class with 15 students, looking forward to seeing them all graduate with the next group in Burundi. |
