Lord, teach us to pray.
|
From scripture we learn that, … prayer played an essential part in Jesus’ life and ministry! Not only on a regular basis, … but also at very specific times. So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed. --- Luke 5:16 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. --- Mark 1:35 And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. --- Mark 6:46 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. --- Luke 6:12 As Jesus’ disciples observed His “prayer” life style, … seeing the importance that He put on prayer, … and how this time with God influenced His life and ministry, they realized it was something they also needed to do … Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray” --- Luke 11:1 Read ... Although so often simply accepted, yet easily overlooked, NATURE not only gives us insight into many of God’s principles, but is indeed an expression or a manifestation of God’s very nature or character. Nature as represented in Eden is therefore not just special, but it also holds the very secret of creation and so also God's plan in creation. So, let’s have a closer look at this garden. The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads. … Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. --- Gen. 2:8-15 What is the significance of this garden …"eastward in Eden"? Firstly, we know its location, eastward in Eden. Secondly it indicates that the rest of Eden (the earth) was not necessarily beautiful or perfect, telling us not only that God was working or dealing with creation, but that there was more to the process than is seen at first sight.
