What
should you believe?
|
As can be seen from his book, James was very practical as well as very direct in his thinking, writing and actions, and in talking about practical Christian living, … made this thought provoking statement. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble! --- James 2:19 James, writing about what we believe or should believe, made a parallel or comparison between what we believe … and what demons believe, from which it is obvious that what or how we believe, is more important than normally thought or accepted. You do well if you believe there is one God, but this is clearly not enough, because as James says, - even the demons believe - yet that is not going to help them at all. Most everyone believes in something, … in one God or a god! … in it luck, fate or self! … in astrology or fortune telling! However what guarantee does that bring you? Does it mean that, … God will be able to do His will in your life? … God will be able to manifest His promises in your life? Not really! Read ... Do you believe (in) God? ... here! |
Although “the Great Commission” is not named in the Bible, it's been adopted as an instruction of Jesus’ to every Christian, ... putting many under pressure and even condemnation, … which is not the way God does things! So, is there a “Great Commission”? In the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, God said that … there is something He wants man to be involved with! And Jesus during His time on earth, also intimated that … there’s something the believers should be involved with! So what is it? Is it to get people born again? Is it to preach the gospel? Is it to live love? Is it to make disciples? To most Christians, particularly pastors, the answer seems easy, … go preach the gospel. However, is this really what Jesus planned for us? Before answering that question, I believe, … one should look at what God Himself said about His plan, … as well as what Jesus confirmed regarding God's plan! For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. --- Rom. 8:29 Read ...
